Remarks:
I developed this load here: 300 BLK – 10.5 in – HRN 190gr SUB-X – Accurate LT-30 for my 10.5″ 300 Blackout. (12/3/22) – This buck was standing broadside @ 60 yards and my son hit him low in the chest and through both front shoulders. He dropped immediately but took more than a couple minutes to quit kicking so he was dispatched with a 2nd shot through the neck. The bullet passed through the closest front shoulder and the chest cavity passing through one lung and lodged in the opposite front shoulder where it was recovered. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a scale handy to weigh him but I estimate he was around 150lbs. Also, in the excitement of my son’s first buck and trying to get it processed before dark, I didn’t take any pictures of the wound. I did include pictures of the recovered bullet though.

Summary:
At 60 yards, this load is travelling 1,020 fps and only generating around 440 ft/lbs. of energy. However, being that Hornady designed these bullets to reliably expand at velocities > 900 fps, this load had no problem dropping a decent sized buck with one shot. Measuring with calipers, the max diameter of the expanded lead was 0.486″ and the max diameter including the copper jacket petal was 0.891″. I was very impressed and this rifle setup with a suppressor and these subsonic loads is very quite.
